My notaire has mandated a genealogist to find me. Does he have the right? Should not he himself seek me?

The search for the heirs can be carried out directly by the notary responsible for the settlement of the inheritance when it does not require advanced procedures: information provided by the other heirs and relatives of the deceased , knowledge of the family, family booklet.

However, when a notaire in charge of an inheritance has difficulty locating the heirs (lost family booklets, recomposed or dispersed families ...) or doubts about the information provided, he can resort to a genealogist whose job it is to find the Heirs (not the notary). Once the heirs have been identified, the genealogist makes contact with them and proposes to them to conclude a contract of revelation of inheritance .
