Full adoption

04.13.2017

Full adoption creates a new parental bond between the adopter and the adopted child and cuts all ties with the adopted child’s original family, except where the spouse’s child is adopted (unlike simple adoption).

Full adoption is, however, only possible under certain limited circumstances (Including international adoptions, adoptions of French children admitted as wards of the State).

  • What affects the child adopted in full adoption?

    • Adopted children change families under full adoption.

  • If the adopted child is that of his spouse?

    • In the special circumstances under which the spouse’s child is adopted, full adoption maintains the legal ties between children and their original families.

  • Find a notaire

    • The adoption procedure is often long and difficult.

    • Contact your notaire to discuss the various ways of adopting and he/she will explain the legal and tax consequences.
