Back on a year of practice of the European Certificate of Inheritance in France.
On 17 August 2015, the French notaires started using the EU regulation on international successions. The regulation provides for a European Certificate of Succession (CSE) who can prove his status as heir or legatee in another country of the European Union party to the settlement (all except Denmark, United Kingdom, Ireland).
The notarial profession has organized a European register of succession certificates. It was operational from August 17, 2015.
At August 2, 2016, already 52 European inheritance certificates were registered. Over the same period, the French notaires have made 165 certificate searches established in France. The French notaires can also query the Luxembourg register that is interconnected. Luxembourgers notaires can also question the French registry. Interconnections with the Belgians and Dutch registries are planned for this year.
