I renounced my father’s estate. My brothers are asking me to pay part of the funeral expenses. Am I required to contribute to these costs?

Yes. When the assets of the estate do not cover the funeral expenses, these expenses are treated as a maintenance obligation towards one’s parents. Children must therefore bear the cost according to their means, even if they have renounced the estate (French Civil Code, Arts. 205 and 371).
